Thanks for your interest in joining us. We're always looking for new talented staff, so we hope you'll apply! But before applying, please read the descriptions of the positions below.

Positions available are:

Contract All | Expand All
Scanner or Raw Provider

We generally don't need scanners unless it's listed in our Help Wanted box or we make an announcement. If that's the case and you want to scan for us, just fill out the form below and we'll send you the details. If you don't have a scanner but have raws you'd be willing to send to us, that'd be great too. Let us know you just want to provide the books in the form if this is the case.

Translator

We usually only need Japanese translators, unless noted otherwise on our Help Wanted box. Freetalk translations are not required, but they are encouraged. A chapter should be turned in about every two weeks or so, but even this is flexible. Up to a month should be fine. When you fill out the form, provide the following information so we can know which project you can do depending the level of difficulty. Tell us: the project(s) you'd like to work on if there are any, the number of years you have taken Japanese (or Chinese), and if you can read Japanese without furigana. Regular IRC access is recommended.

Proofreader

Proofreaders must have a *really* strong grasp on the English language. Knowledge of the Japanese culture is also crucial in detecting errors. You should be able to detect spelling erorrs and fix up scripts so that it flow. Proofreading a chapter should take no longer than a week. (There were two errors in this paragraph, did you find them? If you did, please point them out with the corrections in your application. Also note that this application itself will test your English, so use proper English in the application.)

Editor

We are looking for experienced editors, but we are willing to train enthusiastic beginners who have time and are willing to learn. You must go through our training if you have had no experience. There will be some constructive criticisms for this job, so if you cannot handle them or are not willing to change and adapt to our standards, this may not be the job for you. You will not need to edit SFXs, but just put a note for them in the margin. As an editor, you are expected to turn in at least one chapter every two to three weeks, but this is flexible. Up to a month should be fine. Please take our editing test before applying. Upload the test somewhere when you're done then send us the link to the test along with your application form. Regular IRC access is recommended.

Quality Checker

QCers are the people who do final "quality checks" on all edits. They go through all the psd files for the chapter and make sure everything is good and ready for release. This means you must have strong English skills (meaning you can detect spelling mistake as well as grammer errors) and you must also have an eye for details to detect possible flaws in edits. Do not think that this job only involves looking for mechanical errors (i.e. grammar, spelling)--detection of editing flaws is what differentiates a QCer from a proofreader. You will QC directly from a psd, which means you should have some experience/familiarity with Photoshop. Some knowledge of the Japanese culture and being able to read hiragana and katakana (AKA sound-effects) would be pluses. Since this is the final job before a release, speed is also essential to prevent a stalled release. A chapter should be done within one to two week. Regular IRC access is recommended. (There were two errors in this paragraph, did you find them? If you did, please point them out with the corrections in your application. Also note that this application itself will test your English, so use proper English in the application.)

MangaArt Nerd

This position was created for people who might not have the skills or the time to put into the other more traditional positions listed above and is probably more involved with the fun side of our group and not a direct stage in the scanlation process. Basically, this position involves doing miscellaneous work for MangaArt to help out in any way you can. We have a lot going on in our group and we need all the help we can get to get a lot of things done. Some ways you may help is by: coloring MangaArt's projects, designing layouts, coding, hosting our site, drawing web comics for our MangaArt comic, hosting a XDCC bot on our #MangaArt@irc.IRCHighway.net channel, etc. This list is not exhaustive and you can help in any other way you can think of. If you have something you'd like to help us out with, feel free to let us know. If you're interested, please contact us and let us know what you can contribute to the MangaArt cause. We'll try our best to put your abilities to good use somehow. ;)

Application Form:

To apply, please fill out the form below. Make sure you have fully read and understand the description for your job above before filling this form out. Fields marked with asterisks (*) are required fields. If your position involves a test (editor), please upload it somewhere like Megaupload, or MediaFire, or send it to Suyara or immi on IRC. Thank you for your interest. We look forward to working with you! ^^
